Dreadfleet - Part 1

It seems like forever since I painted anything historical or alternative historical as what little painting time I have had has gone on painting up Dreadfleet.  Hopefully I'll give the game a go at some point in the next couple of weeks.  In the meantime, here are the ships - I'm reasonably happy with the paint jobs, it was quite refreshing to be able to go bright on the colours rather than feeling obliged to stick to the rather sombre pallette of the 1930s:

The Bloody Reaver:

The Heldenhammer:

The Flaming Scimitar:

The Shadewraith:

The Swordfish:

The Curse of Zandri:

Grimnir's Thunder:

The Black Kraken:

The Seadrake:

Skabrus:

Why it's been quiet . . . . .

Sorry I've been so quiet recently.  By way of explanation I was fortunate enough to have a copy of Dreadfleet come into my possession.  This has mean that there has been a very noticeable break in my VBCW output.  However, I am half way through the last ship of Dreadfleet.  Photos will follow soon.  Then it will be back to 1938!

Gaz 98 Aerosan Part Two

Well, it's taken me an absolute age to get round to painting this vehicle.  I'm reasonably pleased with the results, it should be pretty fun to play with - incredible straight line speed and the turning circle of an oil tanker me thinks!

A fine year of beer!

I can't remember where this chap came from, I think it was a limited edition from Warlord.  I just love how characterful this chap is.

The Percy Hunt - part 3

Every hunt needs a fox.  I need a camera with a better macro!

The Percy Hunt - part 2

I've had this particular project ongoing for ages now.  Tonight I finally finished painting them.

Not the best paint job that I've ever done and definitly not the best modelling that I've ever done!  It just goes to prove that you should never attempt conversions or using green stuff after a few too many glasses of port!

Yes that is a flock of sheep in the background that I'm working on.

Northumbria Police

These are some of the miniatures that came into my possession after getting thoroughly carried away at Border Reiver 2011 despite setting firm spending limits before I left home!  Unfortunately I've been away with work a lot over the last few weeks and so not had time to get much painting done.  Anyway, here a few of the Policemen that I bought from Reiver Castings.  I've also got a unit of their Police cavalry to paint as well.  Very good value for money and they paint up better than the bare lead suggests.  I will be making decals for the helmets as soon as my new printer arrives.

They still need texture to be added to their bases but unfortunately I'm away with work again a lot over the next 2-3 weeks.

Great War Miniatures Character Pack

I ordered these chaps a few weeks ago after failing to secure the rather fine motorbike mounted signaller from a fellow on the Gentleman's Wargame Parlour.  I think that these are lovely miniatures and have done what I can to make them live up to their sculpting.  The sniper will probably be employed as a Ghillie for Lord Percy's Peasant Shooting Party but all the others will probably be involved with my Regular or Territorial forces.  I still need to add texture to the bases but other than that the only thing left to do is learn how to take photos that look any good as my current macro use leaves rather a lot to be desired!
