Quiet Friday Night In

The Memsahib has been despatched on a hen night.  The groom needed somewhere to go.  Guess what's happening?  Yes, I am finally getting an evening of gaming!!!

Sadly it's not 1938 or Zulus as I need to learn the rules for Flames of War for an event that the Station club is hosting in a few weeks time.  Still, at least it's chance to christen the roads and rivers!  Here's hoping that I don't lose to badly tonight!

  1. Good Luck with the game mate. FoW is a quick game to learn and lots of fun. Which forces do you have?

  2. I'm playing British Airborne in defence against a mechanised Lehr force in the breakthrough scenario. There seems to be an alarming number of big tanks (Panthers) and I have very little in the way of maneauvre units. Still, aim is to learn not win!

I collected a 51st Northumbrian Division force and a Panzer Lehr force a few years ago then sold them off as I didn't know any FOW players up here! Sods law everybody else plays FOW now and I'm the only VBCW/Zulu type!

  3. Turn 3: Mark's reserves don't turn up. Bit worrying for him as all he has left on the table is 3 Panthers and a mortar platoon. Bet he wishes that he hadn't put the Panzer IVs and mechanised platoon in reserve!

  4. I bet too. I know what you mean as I have a British 1st Army and a Jerry DAK force and no one here plays mid war they all play late war.

  5. Turn 5: Lucky dice for Mark and both his reserve platoons. Turn 6: It's all gone wrong for me. On victory points alone it would have just been mine, however according to the scenario it's Mark's victory. A fun little game that more or less go the rules into my head. Obvious conclusion is that dug in infantry are good, but Panthers are better!
