A little idea for mixing paints

I can't remember where I got this idea from but it works rather well.  I am sure that many of you also have the occasional problem with paint that has separated a little and doesn't get better, even if you shake it for ages.  This simple idea can help out.

Get some little glass or metal beads and add them to the paint.  It's fairly easy to lift the top off a vallejo paint and pop it in.  From then on when you shake the paint it will act like the noisy rattle thingamejig in a spray can!

  1. I´ve done that. Thing is you need to be carefull..the ball or whatever seems to act like a magnet, collecting all the pigment to it unless you give the bottles a regular shake...I lost two P3 pots due to "clumping" around the ballbearings I´d put in :-(

  2. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if that was a result of using metal bearings or not?

  3. That is a great idea and I think I will try it was plastic balls and see what the effect is.

  4. At one point the Reaper Miniatures paints came with an agitator in the form of a small human skull. It extended the life of the paint no end and provided endless entertainment as well!
